Lady Patriot Volleyball (7-3, 3-0) rolled into Lawton, Oklahoma, on Tuesday afternoon looking to add to their five match win streak and left town that night the winners of six straight after defeating Cameron University (4-7) in four sets (25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 25-19). Dallas Baptist was led by a great all-around night by
Kaycie Bird as she recorded 16 assists and 14 digs while
Tadam Mergener continued her hot offensive play with 19 kills.
Erika Papadeas collected 16 kills of her own and
Cameron Hartson was the only other Lady Patriot with double digit digs as she led the club with 16 on the night.
DBU held Cameron, a member of the Lone Star Conference, to a .237 hitting percentage in the match and forced 23 attack errors by the Aggies. The Lady Patriots hit .247 on the night and, on defense, had 59 digs. The team high for digs in a match this season is 89 - a mark DBU set in a five-set match against Texas Wesleyan on September 4. Their high in a four-set match is the 83 digs they collected against conference rival St. Edward's on September 11.
The Lady Patriots will return to action, and to Dallas, on Thursday, September 20, as they return to Heartland Conference play against Newman University at 7:00 pm in The Burg Center. They will then host another conference foe in Arkansas-Fort Smith on Saturday at noon.
