Volleyball Defeats Wesleyan in Five Games

After opening the season in Colorado and playing a couple matches against Top 25 programs, the Dallas Baptist Women's Volleyball Team (2-3) traveled to Fort Worth Tuesday night to take on Texas Wesleyan University in their final tune-up before conference play begins Thursday. It took all five games for the Lady Patriots to claim victory but a decisive 15-10 win in the final set sealed the match after DBU held off a late rally from the Lady Rams.

DBU dropped the first game before claiming the middle two sets and losing the fourth, 25-23. That led to the decisive fifth frame, which saw the Lady Patriots jump out to a 9-0 advantage before holding off a late TWU rally to win 15-10. Kristin Secord led the Lady Patriots with 18 kills while Erika Papadeas chipped in 16 of her own to go along with three aces. Cameron Hartson helped the Lady Patriot defense with 27 digs.

DBU will return to action September 6 as they travel to San Antonio to open Heartland Conference play against St. Mary's at 7:00 pm. They will continue on the road Saturday, September 8, as they face Texas A&M International before finally opening the home portion of their schedule on September 11 as they face St. Edward's at 7:00 pm.
