DALLAS – The Dallas Baptist Men's Soccer Team fell 4-1 to a tough Texas A&M International opponent Monday afternoon. The setback sends the Patriots to 1-3 on their current six-game home stand. TAMIU (7-6-1, 5-1) has won three straight.

It was a highly competitive game throughout most of the contest, with the first half featuring a fast tempo pace for both offenses. Teams combined for 12 shots and eight corner kicks, but only one goal was tallied by halftime.

Ryan Hodgson recorded that goal, his first of two in the game, at the 4:28 mark to put the Dustdevils in front 1-0. Despite the early deficit, DBU (4-8, 2-3) kept the game in reach and had a few good opportunities to score in the frame.

It was a familiar start to the second half, as Hodgson again punched a short kick in the goal at the 52:25 mark. Jovany Macias delivered the pass from the far right corner to create the assist on the play.

Perhaps the game changing play of the match occurred a few minutes later when Jovany Macias extended the lead 3-0 on a penalty kick in the 56
th minute.

David Balyeat hit his fourth goal of the season and put the Patriots on the scoreboard with a penalty kick of his own. Altogether, seven yellow-cards were distributed in this contest.

The Dustdevils concluded their scoring at the 81:15 mark from a goal by Arturo Gutierrez. Eduardo Serrano was credited with the assist.

The Patriots were outshot 21-12 on the game and nine to six for shots on goal. Balyeat paced the offense with four shots and three shots on goal. Senior
Rodrigo Barrientos followed with three shot attempts, placing one on goal. Sophomore
Brian Robertson shot perfect taking two shots and having them count on goal.

Jesus Cisneros (5-6-1) earned the win allowing a goal and gathering five saves in 90 minutes.
