The Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Volleyball Team completed a doubleheader, Saturday evening, dropping a 3-0 decision to visiting Texas Woman's University. The non-conference contest moves DBU to 11-13 on the year, with TWU improving to 15-8.

Aided by an early 6-0 run, Texas Woman's controlled the early portion of the first set, before DBU climbed within three at 14-11. After the Pioneers extended their lead to 24-17, DBU fought back with a 5-0 run on set point, but eventually dropped the frame, 25-22.

After an early Pioneer lead and a DBU comeback, the two clubs tied and traded leads until 17. TWU then went on a 3-0 run and held their lead to the end, taking a 2-0 advantage with a 25-20 set two win. The Pioneers controlled the majority of the third set, finishing the match with a 25-18 win.

"Hitting really hurt us again in this match," said Head Coach
Cathy Kokel. "We're playing well in other areas, setting, defense, blocking, but unforced errors really hurt us in both matches today."

Tiara Iwegbu led all players with 10 kills, with
Erika Papadeas earning nine, and
Tadam Mergener pitching in seven.
Tyler Bradsher earned a match-high 27 assists, as well as 18 digs, also tops among all players.
Cameron Hartson pitched in 15 digs on the defensive end, with
Hannah Ballew adding 10.

"I definitely want to praise Ty (Bradsher). This match was the first time all season we've run a 5-1 system, and she handled it really well," added Kokel.

For Texas Woman's University, Chloe' Tate and Marcela Alves each earned eight kills to lead the club. Kayla Rivero earned passed off 17 assists, with Kimberly Bell adding 11. Morgan Wilson turned in the best defensive performance with 17 digs.

DBU continues their current home stand and resumes Heartland play, Thursday, hosting Lubbock Christian University at 7 p.m. at The Burg Center.
