The Dallas Baptist Women's Tennis Team was unable to gain much momentum falling 8-1 against Heartland foe, No. 43 St. Edward's University, on Friday. The setback comes after the Patriots (1-2) claimed their first victory of the season nearly 24 hours ago versus Metro State.   
 
In the Doubles competition, senior duo, Leah Rutt and Leah Smith, came up short in the #2 slot forcing a tiebreaker after a 9-8 result. The Hilltoppers prevailed 7-4 in the extra set.
 
DBU's lone win came in the #3 doubles with junior, Lyvia Gomez, and sophomore, Lindsay Wilkerson, earning an 8-1 set victory over SEU's Breanne Hesseltine and Tatiana Marchizano.
 
The Patriots played SEU to three sets in two of six single matches on the day. Smith in the #4 slot won 6-1 and then fell 6-0, 10-6 in the following sets to Francesca Chaher. Gomez also won the opening set, 6-4, in the #6 slot, before dropping a 7-5 set and 10-8 tiebreaker match-up to Hesseltine.
