The Dallas Baptist Women's Tennis Team swept all three doubles matches en route to a solid 7-2 victory Saturday afternoon at Texas A&M Kingsville. It was the first victory on the road for the Patriots (2-2) and second in the past three matches.
Sophomore,
Amanda Richter, and freshman,
Cassandra Wennerstrom, tallied a 9-7 win in the #1 slot for the first round of doubles. Seniors,
Leah Smith and Leah Ruth, teamed up for a big 8-5 triumph in the #2 match-up over Texas A&M Kingsville's Tabata Lua and Ashlea Rosenbaum.
For the third day in a row, sophomore, Lindsay Wilkerson, and Junior,
Lyvia Gomes prevailed 8-2 in the final slot of doubles competition.
The Patriots won four of six in the singles competition, led by Rutt in the #1 slot with sets going 6-3, 6-4. Wennerstrom recorded a pair of 6-3 sets in the #3 spot to seal the win for the road squad.
Shutting out her opponent with two, 6-0, sets was Smith in the #4 seed. Gomes captured a win in the #5 singles slot with a 6-0, 6-2 final.
Dallas Baptist travels to Jacksonville College in Jacksonville, Texas. Contest is set at 4 PM on Friday, Feb. 28.
