Women's Tennis Falls in Weather Delayed Affair

The Dallas Baptist Women's Tennis Team snapped a season-high, six-game winning streak, completing a 5-0 shortened contest on Friday versus Midwestern State University. The Lady Patriots move to 9-6 after the setback. The No.18 Mustangs improved to 11-3 in a contest halted for three hours due to weather. After a late start, the match was decided once the minimal points were concluded.

After being an immediate anchor in the #1 line for the doubles competition, Sophomore, Amanda Richter, and freshman, Cassandra Wennerstrom, were unable to complete an 8-6, narrow decision. Also a rare setback for the #2 slot, seniors, Leah Rutt, and Leah Smith pushed DBU back into a tough spot.

A pair of shutouts in the #5 and #6 slots from junior, Lyvia Gomes, and freshman, Meredith Robinson, respectively, ended the shortened-affair Friday afternoon.

The DBU Women's Tennis Squad completes its season-long, four-game home stand on Saturday with a pair of Heartland Conference matches. The first of the duo conference opponents is Newman University, followed by University of Texas-Permian Basin.
