The Dallas Baptist Women's Tennis Team was defeated 9-0 by St. Mary's University at DBU Kiest Tennis Courts Friday afternoon. Snapping a two-game winning streak, the setback puts the Patriots (3-3, 0-2) back at .500 overall. They also now are 1-1 on the home venue.
 
The Patriots dropped all three matches in the doubles round, but the #2 slate gave a close affair for the home squad. Seniors, Leah Rutt and Leah Smith, battled Jamie Lee Denton and Ariana Saldana to a 9-8 draw in the first set, but would be topped 10-8 in the deciding round.
 
Sophomore, Amanda Richter, and freshman, Cassandra Wennerstrom were defeated in the #1 slot by a total of 8-2 to StMU's Mariana Rong and Christina Lopez.
 
Rong continued her success in the #1 singles match versus DBU's Rutt as she posted scores 6-1, 6-3 against the Strasburg, Pennsylvania, native. Wennerstrom fell in the #3 spot to Felicity Delgado by 6-2, 6-3 totals.
 
Dallas Baptist will take on another Heartland Conference foe tomorrow as it welcomes University of Arkansas-Fort Smith at the Arlington Tennis Center for a 3 PM start time.
