THE LEADThis weekend the DBU Volleyball team heads out to compete in the A&M-Commerce Classic. The Lady Patriots will play three games in two days versus the No. 17 Colorado School of Mines, Southern Arkansas and classic host Texas A&M Commerce. This comes off the heels of DBU's Thursday evening loss to conference foe the University Arkansas-Fort Smith, who swept the Lady Patriots 3-0. Three Lady Patriots registered double digit kills for the match (
Brooke Manley 12,
Tiara Gipson 11, and
Krystal Wunderlich 10). The loss to UAFS resulted in back-to- back home losses for DBU and dropped them to 1-3 for the season, placing sixth overall in Heartland Conference play.

THE LAST TIME OUTThe Lady Patriots have faced the trio of teams they'll see in the A&M-Commerce Classic within the past two seasons. The opponent DBU most recently faced were the Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce, who they defeated 3-1 on September 10, 2013. Their meeting with the Southern Arkansas Lady Muleriders resulted in a win as well with a 3-0 sweep on October 20, 2012. Their lone meeting with the Colorado School of Mines resulted in a 3-1 loss on September 12, 2012.Â

POINTS BY SETDespite the slow start by the Lady Patriots they have managed to outscore their opponents in total points by set. DBU has totaled 334 points for the season while opponents have registered only 317.

ERRORS NOT FUTILEThe Lady Patriots have found themselves keeping their errors in attacking low so far this season. Through four games DBU has only played one game where they've had more attack errors than their opponents. Opponents have erred in attacks 84 times this season to DBU's 67.

SCOUTING THE A&M-COMMERCE CLASSICOf the trio of teams DBU will be competing against this weekend, Colorado School of Mines has the best record sitting at 3-1. The No. 17 Orediggers are led by Danielle Johnson-Hazlewood and Alanna Winfield. Both received accolades from the most recent tournament the team played in, with Johnson-Hazlewood receiving the tournament's Most Valuable Player award. TAMUC comes into their tournament with a record of 1-4, with their most recent loss coming against Tarleton State. The Southern Arkansas Lady Muleriders have yet to win a game this season, sitting at 0-5.     Â
