BACK ON THE PITCH
The Dallas Baptist Men's Soccer Team continues its weekend home stand with an 11 AM kickoff versus Colorado Christian University. It is a quick turnaround after the Patriots tabbed a victory in the season-opener Thursday night.

DBU has prevailed in four of the last five contests at Patriot Soccer Field dating back to last season.

RECENT ACTION
For the third-straight year, Dallas Baptist claimed its first win of the campaign in the opener. It did mark the first time the Patriots opened in the friendly confines since becoming Division II.

Redshirt Sophomore Landon Lacy was clutch late in the match, striking the squad's second goal at the 85 minute mark to lift the home team. It was the Hallsville, Texas, native's first of the season and in over a year after being medically red-shirted in 2013.

Freshmen Michael Andrews got off to a nice collegiate career. He broke a scoreless tie in the second half with a header in the 58th minute. Junior Leevi Schwartz was part of both goals for the Patriots as the rookie tallied a pair of assists.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Junior Brian Robertson hopes to build on a career campaign from 2013. The Midlothian, Texas, native boasted personal and team-highs with 24 points, seven goals, and 10 assists. His success garnered the midfielder NCCAA First Team All-Region and Second Team All-Heartland Conference honors.

Senior David Balyeat has also been a threat to score, posting five goals in each of his two seasons at DBU.  A transfer from Mississippi College, Balyeat led the squad in goals and points during the Patriots' first year as a Division II program in 2012.

Last season, the midfielder ranked second on the team in scoring, totaling 14 points and five goals. For his efforts, Balyeat earned the nod on the NSCAA All-South Region Second Team and was also named First Team All-Heartland Conference, as well as to the NCCAA Central All-Region Team.

Lacy is another player to keep an eye on. Thursday's hero entered the year tied for third on career goals with four from this season's current roster. The midfielder increased his overall point total to 12 after boasting a double-digit mark in his debut season.

OUT OF THE NET
Coming off a year where the Patriots rank second in the Heartland Conference with 48 saves versus league opponents (5.33 per game), it was expected to be a low scoring affair in the opener.

Sophomore Mason Stringer got the start in the net Thursday evening. The Burleson, Texas, native completed 90 minutes of action, and allowed only one goal while nabbing four saves. He faced 12 shots from Harding University in his first win of the season.

Through 598:10 minutes last year, Stringer allowed 12 goals, while grabbing 36 saves to finish 3-2-1. The second-year goalkeeper also garnered the only shutout for DBU; a 4-0 victory at McMurry.

SCOUTING COLORADO CHRISTIAN
The Cougars (1-0) defeated Dallas Christian College 1-0 on Thursday afternoon after splitting two exhibition contests two weeks ago. A 1-0 setback to Grace College was the result of the first exhibition, but the offense got rolling in a 3-1 victory over Johnson and Wales University.

CCU continues its four-match road stint on Saturday at Dallas Baptist.

Last season, Colorado Christian went 3-15-1, including a 2-11-1 mark in conference. The Cougars are led by Luke Burgard who returns boasting a team-best 8 goals and 18 points. Leake Weston also is back and contributed three goals for CCU.

Brandon Eide racked up 76 saves in 13 games of play inside the net last year.

SERIES HISTORY
These squads met a season ago at Lakewood, Colorado, with the Cougars topping DBU 1-0. It was one of the squads five setbacks decided by a goal last campaign.

Weston kicked in the difference-making goal on an assist from Burgard. It was current junior Chuck Schober's only mishap between the posts for the Patriots. He did grab two saves overall.

Dallas Baptist outshot its opponent 14-7 in the contest, but only three attempts counted for a shot on goal.

UP NEXT
Dallas Baptist begins a five-game road stretch beginning on September 11 at Southern Nazarene University. Kickoff is slated for 7 PM.
