Women's Tennis to Face Three Formidable Opponents on the Road

THE LEAD
DBU Women's Tennis team will hit the road to Arkansas this weekend to take on conference opponent Arkansas-Fort Smith and non-conference opponents Southern Arkansas and Arkansas Tech. The Lady Patriots (5-3) are coming off a performance in which they defeated Texas A&M Kingsville, 4-3.

SCOUTING UAFS
The Lady Lions are 2-3 on the season, and recently fell to Oklahoma Baptist 6-1. UAFS has defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State and Henderson State 4-2, and 6-1. In 2017-18, Sophomore Samantha Wong finished 9-7 overall while playing Nos. 2-4 singles. Wong finished 12-5 while playing No. 1 doubles and was named Heartland Conference Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-Heartland Conference.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
Southern Arkansas is 5-2 on the season with significant 7-0 wins over West Georgia University and the University of Texas Permian Basin. The Muleriders recently fell to Tyler Junior College on the road February 16th, 6-2.

SCOUTING ARKANSAS TECH
Arkansas Tech is 3-0 this spring with a recent victory over Nebraska-Kearney, 4-3. Katie Harris got the first Tech point with her 6-2, 6-2 win in No. 5 singles. Daniela Baez then got the second point for the Suns in her 6-4, 6-3 win in No. 6 singles. Kami Ward quickly followed, defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 3 spot. With the teams tied 3-3, Teresa Sanchez secured the win for Tech in her 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 win in the No. 2 spot.

DBU will compete on the road in Tyler, Texas, against the University of Texas at Tyler, March 6.
