Lady Patriots Face Challenging Weekend on the Road

THE LEAD
The DBU Women's Tennis team continues its spring season Friday against Angelo State on the road at 2:00 p.m. DBU will face a quick turnaround as they face-off with Hardin-Simmons and McMurry on the road in Abilene, Texas, Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.

Last time out, the Lady Patriots split the day after dropping their match 5-1 to Harding, with the lone win coming from Adriana Carpenter over Hannah Folse, but quickly rebounded with 6-1 victory over Collin College.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
 
ANGELO STATE
The Belles are coming off a 7-0 victory over Texas Wesleyan last Saturday. Prior to the season, Newcomer Valentina Gonzalez was the highest ranked Belle in the region according to ITA, coming in at No. 6. Gonzalez came to Angelo State from Colombia after a year at Seminole State Junior College.
 
HARDIN-SIMMONS
This weekend will be Hardin-Simmons first action of the 2019 season. The Cowgirls have three freshmen on the roster as well as five upper-classmen. Senior Kelsey Doege went 3-3 in conference matches last season an was named Academic All-ASC.
 
McMURRY
The War Hawks of McMurry come into this weekend with an 0-1 record after dropping their opening match to East Texas Baptist. In the doubles portion of the match, McMurry's (0-1) top duo of Samantha Ritz and Kaitlyn Roberts knocked off Elisa Kendall and Kaleigh Smith by a 9-7 margin. ETBU claimed the other two doubles points and headed into singles play with a 2-1 advantage over the War Hawks.
