Women's Tennis Faces Challenging Weekend on the Road

THE LEAD
The Lady Patriots travel to Seguin, Texas, to take on Texas Lutheran on Friday afternoon, as well as San Antonio to take on Heartland Conference foe St. Mary's Saturday. Last time out, DBU made quick work of Southwestern, sweeping all doubles and singles matches on the day. DBU went unchallenged on the day improving to 15-5 on the season.

Against Newman the following day, DBU started strong sweeping the doubles matches while taking all four opening sets. The Lady Jets would fight back at lines three and four taking both matches to third sets to close out with wins. Claire Nguyen and Taylor Leslie closed out their opponents leaving Ira Vogelmann and Devon-Austin Canning as the last two matches.

Vogelmann and Austin-Canning both finished their matches with wins, making the score 5-2 in favor of DBU. With the wins, DBU improved to 16-5 on the year.

SCOUTING TEXAS LUTHERAN
TLU is 5-7 overall on the season and recently fell 6-3 to LeTourneau University. The TLU Women picked up singles victories from Mary Eby (Rockport/Rockport-Fulton) and Kaitlyn Enloe (Seguin/Seguin). Samantha Stafford (Rockport/Rockport-Fulton) and Enloe grabbed a women's doubles victory at the No. 3 position.
 
SCOUTING ST. MARY'S
St. Mary's is 7-5 on the season and is currently on a three game losing skid, falling to Hawaii Pacific, West Alabama, and West Florida. In doubles action against West Florida, the Lady Rattlers clinched doubles points after Alex Corder and Ally Maciel took their doubles match 6-1 at line one. At line three, Ashley Penshorn and Hannah Petersen won 6-4.

DBU will compete against St. Edward's on April 4th at 3:00 p.m. in Dallas at Kiest Park.
