Young Talent Shines for Women's Tennis at Tyler Invite

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Tennis team opened their fall season over the weekend at the Tyler Invite in Tyler, Texas.  Facing competition from national powerhouses such as Central Oklahoma, Southern Arkansas, St. Mary's, St. Edward's, and Tyler Junior College, four members of the Lady Patriots competed in the first tournament of the fall.

Freshman Genie Hernandez went 2-for-3 in singles action in her DBU debut, defeating opponents from UT Tyler and St. Mary's, while fellow freshman Ashton Wilfong grabbed a win in singles and also teamed up with Leslie Omeire in doubles to notch a victory.  Omeire also collected a win in singles play.

DBU HEAD COACH WADE MORGAN ON THE SEASON OPENER
"This weekend served as a good eye opener.  Hopefully our young players received a good taste of what competition against the best in the country looks like.  The experience should help us move forward."

UP NEXT
