Lady Patriots Fall to West Texas A&M in LSC Tournament Championship

THE RUNDOWN
DBU (25-6, 14-2 LSC) was swept by No. 11 West Texas A&M (27-4, 16-0 LSC) in the final of the Lone Star Conference Volleyball Championship. Shaylee Shore had one of her best performances to date, recording 12 kills, a .476 hitting percentage, and 6 combined blocks.

An inefficient offense handicapped the Lady Patriots to open the match. A couple of short surges by the Lady Buffs in the middle of the set separated them from DBU, 18-11. The Lady Patriots looked to challenge late in the frame, but a .077 hitting percentage prohibited them from doing so.

After a disappointing first set, DBU found some momentum early in the second. Trailing 8-5, West Texas A&M found a groove with a 10-2 run. The Lady Patriots bunched points together to keep the Lady Buffs within reach but failed to seal the deal in a set lost by only two points.

West Texas A&M kept control in the 3rd, jumping to 8-4 lead and extending it to as many as 7. DBU threatened late to close the margin to as few as four, 16-20, but could not stave off the Lady Buffs from claiming back-to-back LSC Tournament titles.
