The DBU Volleyball team claimed a 3-0 win over Midwestern State at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls, Texas, on Friday.
Delaney Fuller and
Karly Wells led the offensive attack with 16 kills apiece as the Lady Patriots won for the ninth time this year in straight sets.
DBU (15-6, 8-2) opened the match with a 25-19 win in the first set. Tied at 17 points apiece, a kill from Wells handed the Lady Patriots a lead that they would not relinquish, as DBU outscored the Mustangs, 8-2, the rest of the way.
The second set was a back-and-forth battle that saw the Lady Patriots edge out MSU (4-17, 1-8) by a score of 26-24. Trailing 24-21 and in need of a rally, DBU rattled off five consecutive points, capped off by a Fuller kill to close out a dramatic comeback.
In the third and final set, the Lady Patriots rolled to a 25-21 advantage to claim the win. Tied at four apiece, an attack error on the Mustangs gave DBU the lead. MSU would keep the set close the rest of the way, pulling to within one point at 22-21 before DBU scored the final three points to capture the set.
