THE RUNDOWNÂ
The No. 22 DBU Women's Soccer Team earned a huge 3-0 win over St. Mary's on Wednesday afternoon at Mercy Street Sports Complex in Dallas. Heavy rainfall last night resulted in a change of location, but did not prevent the Patriots from earning their third straight win. Â
DBU came out strong with six shot attempts in the first 15 minutes. In keeping the ball on their attacking half the majority of the time, the Patriots prevented St. Mary's from play-making, holding the Rattlers to just three shots in the first 45 minutes. DBU's offense continued to push, finding the first goal of the day in the 37th minute when Kathryn Mullis's cross met with Taylor Tufts's right foot and into the goal. The Patriots carried that 1-0 lead into halftime. Â
DBU struck first after the half, earning another goal by Sophia Schrock who was assisted by Taylor Tufts. As time began to dwindle, St. Mary's began to play more aggressively, resulting in nine fouls and two yellow cards in the second 45. DBU responded with another goal in the 75th minute when Rachel Allen headed Kaleigh Naizer's corner kick past St. Mary's goalkeeper Rebecca Difronzo. After going up 3-0 with 15 minutes left in the game, Head Coach Marcus Wood subbed in several players to finish out the game for the Patriots who finished the game with a 3-0 win over the Rattlers. Â
DBU's win against St. Mary's earns them three points towards the Lone Star Conference standings.
