THE RUNDOWN
DBU kept their win streak alive with a victory against the UT Tyler Patriots on Wednesday night at the Louise Herrington Patriot Center. The win breaks a tie in the all-time series, which DBU now leads 6-5.
UTT (9-6, 3-2) sprinted out of the gates in the first set with a 9-2 run. DBU (12-4, 5-0) slowed the role of UTT, but their opponents kept a safe distance. Down 20-11, following a timeout, the Dallas natives began to climb back into the match, narrowing the gap to five, 24-19, but the home team ultimately took the opening frame.
It was a tight 8-8 start to the second. DBU broke away with a 10-2 stretch in which
Delaney Fuller executed four kills and
Aryn Walton added back-to-back aces. UTT answered with a quick 4-0 run, but the visitors maintained the advantage to win set two.
Another close beginning in the third frame, UTT led by one through 21 rallies. Once again, DBU broke away on a set-defining spurt, this time 11-2, to go up 21-13 due in part to a combined five aces by
Jenna McMichael and
Daylee Doggett. The run set up DBU for a chance at the match entering the fourth set.
Set four was shaping up to be another competitive frame, as the two squads were tied in the early stages 10-10. DBU separated itself from UTT with an 8-2 stint, but just as the guests were pulling away, the hosts began a surge of their own, a 5-2 run to make the score 20-17. However, DBU responded with a final short sprint to claim the last set, 25-18.

HEAD COACH JORDAN FISH ON DBU'S SERVING
"We are a great serving team, and we started off slow in set one. You just cannot do that against a great team like Tyler at home. I am proud of how we went for it with our serving the rest of the match. Serve and pass is everything, and everyone stepped up."
