The DBU Women's Tennis team split a pair of matches over the weekend, winning 5-2 over Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant, Oklahoma, on Thursday, before falling 6-1 to No. 8 Central Oklahoma at the Arlington Tennis Center on Saturday. The split gives the Lady Patriots a 9-2 record heading into Lone Star Conference action this week.
In Friday's win over Southeastern Oklahoma State,
Angela Charles-Alfred edged out a victory in line 1 singles, knocking off Vanessa Nitu in three sets.Â
Leonie Schondelmaier picked up a win in straight sets in line 3 singles, while
Isabella Arana Rios and
Sofia Teran each notched victories at the line 5 and 6 spots respectively. In doubles action, the teams of

Madison Stafford (line 2) and
Isabella Arana Rios /
Sofia Teran (line 3) each won in 6-1 fashion.
On Saturday, the Lady Patriots dropped a 6-1 decision to the nation's 8th-ranked team in Central Oklahoma.
Leonie Schondelmaier registered DBU's lone point with a victory in three sets over UCO's Nefeli Zafeiri in line 3 singles.

"We had many chances against UCO. We'll get there, but one thing for sure is that we're very deep and we have a lot of flexibility this year. That's going to serve us well moving forward."

DBU hosts a pair of Lone Star Conference matches against UT Permian Basin on Friday and Western New Mexico on Saturday. Both matches will be played at the Arlington Tennis Center.
