The DBU Women's Tennis team split their final two matches of the regular season, falling 6-1 to No. 30 Angelo State on Friday in San Angelo, Texas, before bouncing back on Saturday with a 5-2 victory on the road over Texas A&M-Kingsville.

In Friday's loss to nationally ranked Angelo State, the Lady Patriots dropped the doubles point despite a win at the line 1 position from the team of
Angela Charles-Alfred and
Jenna Payne who won 6-4 over ASU's Ayda Guler and Ramitha Irrinki. In singles play, Payne notched DBU's lone point of the match with a victory in straight sets at the line 6 spot.

In the regular season finale at A&M-Kingsville, the Lady Patriots began the day by winning a pair of doubles matches to take the point. Charles-Alfred and Payne continued their winning ways with a win the line 1 position while
Isabella Arana Rios and
Sofia Teran cruised to a 6-1 victory in line 3 action. In singles play, DBU won four of the six matches headlined by a win in straight sets by
Leonie Schondelmaier at the line 2 spot.

"This weekend was a good way to end the regular season. Once again, we faced some adversity with having to make some lineup adjustments, but the girls responded well and we were able to end on a positive note. Now we focus on the conference tournament where anything can happen."

UP NEXT
DBU opens the Lone Star Conference Tournament on Thursday at the Arlington Tennis Center. The Lady Patriots will face St. Mary's in quarterfinals action with their match scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
