Women's Tennis Rebounds From Loss to LCU With Upset of No. 35 Midwestern State

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Tennis team rebounded from a 4-3 loss to Lubbock Christian with a 5-2 win over No. 35 Midwestern State on Saturday at the Arlington Tennis Center. It marked the second victory for the Lady Patriots over a nationally ranked program after defeating then-ranked No. 30 St. Thomas Aquinas on March 14.

In Friday's loss to Lubbock Christian, DBU breezed through doubles action winning all three matches before losing four of the six matches in singles play to drop the match by one point.

On Saturday, the Lady Patriots responded with one of their most dominant performances of the year against Midwestern State. Once again, DBU claimed all three matches in doubles play to earn the point. In a line 1 match that featured two nationally ranked teams, the Lady Patriots No. 12 ranked team of Angela Charles-Alfred and Jenna Payne teamed up to defeat No. 32 Sydney Williams and Amelia Lawson, 6-1.  DBU went on to take four points in singles play as Caroline Hudson, Isabella Arana Rios, Sofia Teran, and Jenna Payne each won their contests.

DBU HEAD COACH WADE MORGAN ON THE WIN OVER MIDWESTERN STATE
"That was a much needed win today. We have been heating up in doubles play which pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the match. The girls knew what they wanted to do and the went on court and executed it perfectly. I'm very proud of the overall team effort. It a great way to honor Angela, our lone senior in the final regular season home match this year."

UP NEXT
