THE RUNDOWN
No. 25 DBU (11-6, 5-2) was swept by the No. 9 West Texas A&M Lady Buffaloes (14-3, 7-0) Friday night. Tonight's loss increased the difference between the two schools in the LSC standings to two games. The Lady Patriots dug the furthest into their bench of any game so far this season, bringing 11 players to the court in their efforts tonight (14-25, 25-27, 20-25).
Sadie Washburn flourished in the loss, in a game where she received the most volume she's seen in a game all year. Washburn set a season-high clip of six kills on ten attempts, and her .400 Hit% was good for first on the DBU side.Â
Aryn Walton provided one of the few sparks on the DBU half, as she was tremendous from behind the baseline. Walton provided three service aces without committing a single error from the service line. Aryn also contributed seven digs alongside her 28 assists from her setter position.
The Lady Patriots committed 16 attack errors, compared to WTAMU's eight. The Lady Buffs finished tonight's contest with a .402 Hit%, and in doing so, increased their current win streak to eight. In this stretch of eight games, WTAMU has only dropped two sets. The Lady Buffs currently sit atop the Lone Star Conference in the Hit% department.
The No. 25 ranked Lady Patriots will look to make their claim to remain in the top 25 tomorrow afternoon against Eastern New Mexico (3-15, 0-7).
