First Half Domination Leads to No. 11 DBU's 3-1 Victory Over St. Edward's

THE RUNDOWN
No. 11 DBU put on an offensive clinic in the first half of their match against the St. Edward's Hilltoppers to earn a 3-1 victory. Three goals in 30 minutes led to the Patriots' tenth victory of the season and another three points toward the Lone Star Conference standings.

DBU got off to a quick start at Lewis Chen Field, finding the first goal of the match in the sixth minute. Kaleigh Naizer made a one-touch pass to Taylor Tufts, whose left-footed shot was enough to break SEU's four-match shutout streak. Twenty minutes later, DBU was on the prowl again. Parker Coe's long cross found the foot of Kaleigh Naizer, who was sprinting from the right side of the field. Naizer's shot gave the Patriots a 2-0 lead with 20 minutes to play. In the 35th minute, Head Coach Marcus Wood sent in a wave of substitutions, including Elise Borders, whose cross to Haley Roberson in the 36th minute resulted in a third goal for DBU.

In the second half, SEU seized momentum, finding a goal by Carina Wust in the 54th minute. While the Hilltoppers continued to search for scoring opportunities, the Patriot defense, anchored by Parker Coe and Kathryn Mullis, stopped any advances. In the final 20 minutes, both teams struggled for possession, but neither managed to create any further scoring chances. SEU was unable to find the net again to challenge the Patriots' lead, and DBU secured their seventh conference victory of the season.
