THE RUNDOWN
The Lady Patriots once again proved their strength in doubles by taking the doubles point with a 6-1 victory at line 2 by the duo of Caroline Hudson and Madalyn Smelley. Sarah Castleberry and Jenna Payne secured the point with their 6-4 victory at the line 3 position.

The matches were all close in singles play the whole way through. Emily Buchanan finished the weekend undefeated after her 6-2, 6-1 victory at line 6 to put DBU up 2-0. Cameron, however, quickly answered with their own victory at line 4 and 5 in straight sets. Leonie Schondelmaier battled hard but ultimately fell 4-6 in the third set to put Cameron within one match of victory. Cameron clinched the title after closing out a 3 set match at line 1.

Despite the loss, the Lady Patriots return to Dallas Baptist in high hopes as they have accomplished a huge feat by being the first team to ever reach the Lone Star Conference Championship Finals. Emily Buchanan and Isabella Rios were named to the LSC-All Tournament Team and DBU won more doubles matches than any other team in the LSC this weekend. The Lady Patriots now await the NCAA Selection Show to find out where the postseason journey will take them. The NCAA Selection Show is scheduled for 05/06/2024 at 8:30 pm on NCAA.com
