THE RUNDOWN
The Lady Patriots earn another tally in the left-hand column after five sets of war with UT Tyler. In what was definitely one of the more defensive-prominent games this early on in the season, DBU was able to take sets two, three and five and scurry out of The Burg Center with another win on their early season total.
Both teams were held under a Hit% of .225, not necessarily due to attack errors but due to the 116 combined total digs in tonight's contest. Daylee Doggett put on a masterclass tonight putting up a total 31 digs, three times as many as UT Tyler's leader. Karly Wells led the Lady Patriots with three blocks, using her electrifying play-style and demeanor to energize the DBU bench and crowd.
The Lady Patriots attack was most efficient when they needed it to be, committing only two attack errors in both set two and five, tying up the match early on and slamming the door on the evening after the final set. In a contest where DBU wasn't as dominant as they'd been in the other games in the Dallas Classic, the Lady Patriots picked their spots well and rode momentum through a set five victory.
Aryn Walton posted a whopping 50 assists, and Delaney Fuller led the team in Kill% for the first time this season, posting a .448 Kill% in tonight's affair. Carmen Harless put up four service aces as she was the only player for either side tonight to have multiple aces. The Lady Patriots will close out the Dallas Classic tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 against East Central University.
