THE RUNDOWN
DBU (11-8, 5-6 LSC) fell to Texas A&M Kingsville (15-7, 7-5 LSC) Tuesday night, prolonging the Lady Patriots' losing skid to four games.
Karly Wells was terrific in the loss, kickstarting her 16-kill performance with eight tallies in the opening frame.
Kingsville held the lead throughout the majority of the first frame, but the Lady Patriots were breathing down their necks in search of a long enough run to take the lead, but never got over the hump.Â
DBU came to life and dominated the second set after losing a nailbiter in the first. The Lady Patriots swung to the tune of a .538 hitting percentage in set two, and held the Javelina attack to a .143 clip.Â
The Lady Patriots found themselves down 11-15 in the third frame, before firing off a 5-0 run and taking their first lead of the set at 16-15. Tied at 20, Kingsville would then rattle off a 5-0 run of their own, claiming the set, and putting DBU in a 2-1 hole.
This one wouldn't make it to a fifth set, as the Javelinas posted a .375 hitting percentage and held the Lady Patriots to a .091 clip, defeating DBU in the fourth frame 25-15.
