Lady Patriots Sweep Conference Matches with Strong Wins Over Sul Ross State & Western New Mexico

THE RUNDOWN
The Lady Patriots had an impressive weekend in women's tennis, sweeping both of their opponents with dominant performances. Due to inclement weather, the matches were moved indoors, which altered the dynamic of the competition, but the Lady Patriots adapted well and continued their strong form.

On Friday, the team faced Sul Ross State in Ennis, where they delivered a commanding 7-0 victory. The doubles teams of Emily Buchanan and Jenna Payne, as well as Isabella Quintero and Andrea Delgado, were outstanding, both securing 6-0 wins in their respective matches. In singles, Katherine Robinson (line 1), Leonie Schondelmaier (line 2), Madalyn Smelley (line 3), and Isabella Arana-Rios (line 4) all cruised to victories, not dropping a set in any match. The Lady Patriots' thorough dominance was evident as they swept all areas of the game.

On Saturday, the Lady Patriots traveled to TCU in Fort Worth to take on Western New Mexico. While the match was closer, DBU still came out on top with a 4-0 win. In doubles, Isabella Arana-Rios and Madalyn Smelley, along with Emily Buchanan and Jenna Payne, each claimed victories with solid 6-2 scores. Buchanan and Payne continued their excellent doubles play, going undefeated over the weekend.

In singles, Leonie Schondelmaier, Isabella Arana-Rios, and Emily Buchanan all earned singles wins, with other matches being labeled DNF (Did Not Finish). Notably, both Leonie Schondelmaier and Isabella Arana-Rios remained undefeated in singles play throughout the weekend, showcasing their excellent form and consistency. Overall, the Lady Patriots were dominant throughout the weekend, never dropping a set in singles and playing with strong coordination in doubles. Their resilience and determination were evident as they earned two solid victories, extending their impressive season.
