Lady Patriots Bounce Back, Hand Wayne State First Loss of Season

THE RUNDOWN
The Lady Patriots (3-1) find themselves back in the left-hand column, bouncing back from a reverse sweep suffered at the hands of MSU Moorhead their last time out. DBU took sets one, two, and four against Wayne State (MI) to open the Wildcat Classic with a win (27-25, 25-19, 20-25, 26-24).

Karly Wells took the reins offensively and didn't look back. Wells recorded 24 kills and paired that number with five service aces. KW led everyone on the floor in points with 31.5; nobody else had more than 16.5.

Kalin Hubbard and Madison Clark anchored a defensive front that racked up 12 total blocks in the weekend opener. Hubbard stuffed six, including a solo block, while Clark added five of her own to keep the Warriors' attack in check.

Blue Anderson led everyone on the floor with 25 digs, and Paityn Winters continued her all-around brilliance, posting her third double-double of the season with 21 assists and 14 digs. The production of DBU's freshmen not only provides a spark on the court right now, but also shines a light on the future of the program.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Paityn Winters' double-double this afternoon is her third of the young season.
- Both teams were held under a .150 hitting percentage today (DBU- .131, WSU- .103).
- Ella Swinn made her collegiate debut in the second set this afternoon.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
1 - DBU handed Wayne State (MI) their first loss of the 2025 season (4-1).
9 - The Lady Patriots committed nine fewer attack errors than the Warriors (24-33).
10 - Both teams committed ten service errors.

UP NEXT
