THE RUNDOWN
The No. 5 DBU Women's Soccer team extended its perfect start to the 2025 campaign, securing a 3-0 victory over St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon in San Antonio. Second-half goals from
Kenzi Tufts,
Riley Olsen, and
Parker Coe powered the Patriots to their sixth straight win and a 2-0 mark in Lone Star Conference play, marking DBU's best opening stretch since 2020.
Â
After a scoreless first half in which the Patriots held a 10-5 shot advantage, DBU broke through in the 63rd minute. A foul inside the box on St. Mary's defender Gracie Van Sluis set up a penalty kick for Tufts, who calmly buried her second PK of the season to put the Patriots on the board.
Â
Just three minutes later, the Patriots struck again on the buildup from the back row when Coe linked up with
Emma Croley who then found striker
Riley Olsen. The Patriots' freshman fired a right-footed strike past the keeper and into the top center of the net for a 2-0 lead.
DBU added the exclamation point in the 84th minute off a corner set piece as Croley connected with Coe, who netted home her second goal of the year to seal the victory.
Â
The Patriots dominated possession and tempo in the second half, outshooting the Rattlers 12-2 over the final 45 minutes.

DBU HEAD COACH MARCUS WOOD ON THE TEAM'S SECOND HALF RESPONSE
"We were poor in the first half and got outplayed. We give a lot of the credit for our poor performance to St. Mary's and Coach Kevin Driggs. The second half, we gave a great response. We looked like a completely different team. We will be looking for way to play a more complete game."
