THE RUNDOWN
The Lady Patriots (2-1) took their first loss of the new year earlier this afternoon in their final appearance in the Dallas Classic. DBU took the first two sets quite convincingly, but unfortunately fell victim to Moorhead's second reverse sweep of the weekend (25-20, 25-19, 11-25, 20-25, 14-16). The Dragons walked away from University Hill with the best record of the weekend, going 4-0.
A bright spot on the day was
Karly Wells' performance; she posted a career-high 34 kills, which is a number not even
Delaney Fuller reached in her career. Wells also recorded five digs and two blocks this afternoon.
Lauren Witte, a freshman from Fulshear, has cemented herself this weekend as a reliable number two option behind Wells. Witte posted 14 kills against MSU Moorhead to go along with 12 digs, which gives her a double-double.
Paityn Winters recorded her second double-double of the season, tallying 23 assists and 16 digs.
DBU will look to bury this loss and come out firing on the road; they won't play at home again for roughly a month.
