THE RUNDOWN
Saturday afternoon, DBU (5-2, 0-0 LSC) took down Winona State (1-5, 0-0 NSIC) in four sets to conclude their time at the San Diego Invite.
Karly Wells and
Reagan Fifer led everyone on the floor in kills with 17 and 14, respectively. The Patriots' attack was as efficient as it's been all season, with the group's lowest set-long hitting percentage at .256 this afternoon. With the win, head coach
Jordan Fish earned her 100th career victory as a collegiate head coach.

DBU won the first point of the opening set and built up a staggering 17-7 advantage, but the Warriors would begin to climb back. Winona State would embark on a 14-4 run, tying the score at 21. The two teams would enter deuce play, and once knotted at 26, Wells and Fifer would record back-to-back kills to win the set. The Warriors posted the better hitting percentage (.333) in a rollercoaster ride of an opening frame, but it wasn't enough.

The Patriots would ride the momentum that came along with stymieing a comeback attempt and dominate the Warriors in set two.
Aizlyn Dewberry notched a kill to give DBU a 2-1 lead, and they would hold onto their lead through the remainder of the set. The Warriors were unable to get any efficient offense going, accruing just eight kills and being held to a .083 hitting percentage in the second set, but their fortunes would turn around in the third. Winona State would stay alive with a nail-biting set three win.

Set four started almost perfectly for DBU, as they jumped out to a 10-3 advantage— a stretch that featured five kills from Wells. The Patriots would play their most dominant set of the season so far, winning 25-15 and earning their fifth victory of the young season.

HEAD COACH JORDAN FISH ON THE VICTORY
"I'm super proud of how we are developing as a team. We are getting better every game, and I love how dynamic our offense is -we have a threat in every position. We still have a ways to go, but the commitment to excellence, each other, and grit on this team is going to help get us there. Excited about the journey with this group!"
