Lady Patriots Drop Two Before Defeating Northwest Missouri State


After two straight losses, the Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Tennis Team returned to their winning ways on March 22, with a victory over Northwest Missouri State University. The Lady Patriots now hold a 10-3 overall record on the season.

On March 18, DBU fell to the University of Arkansas Fort Smith, 6-3. Sophomore Hannah Innes was the lone Lady Patriot to pick up a singles victory as she defeated her opponent, 7-5, 7-6, (7-3). Innes also picked up a doubles victory with her partner Natalie Holmes as they defeated Fort Smith's number two team, 9-7. The doubles team of Megan Billings and Lexi Yeado picked up the third victory for DBU, winning 8-6.

Against Heartland Conference rival Incarnate Word, the Lady Patriots only picked up two wins, one singles play and one in doubles play. Junior Lisa Olian picked up the lone singles victory as she won in two sets, 7-5, 6-2. Olian and her doubles partner, Jeanelle Stines, defeated the Cardinals' number two doubles team, 8-5.

The Lady Patriots beat Northwest Missouri State on Monday, by the score of 6-3. Olian, Holmes, Innes, and Laura Atkins all picked up individual wins, with Innes nearly sweeping her opponent, 6-1 and 6-2. The doubles team of Holmes and Innes swept the number one team from NWMS, 8-0.

The Lady Patriots return to action on March 24 in Springfield, Missouri, as they take on Drury University.
