The DBU Lady Patriots Volleyball team earned their fourth consecutive win, Saturday, a 3-1 victory over visiting Oklahoma Panhandle State University. The win moves Dallas Baptist to 4-3 overall, 2-0 early on in Heartland Conference play.
The two clubs fought evenly through the first set, with multiple ties and lead changes. With the score tied at 21, the Aggies (2-6, 0-2) rattled off three in a row, taking the set shortly after, 25-22.
The Lady Patriots bounced back in the second set, completely dominating a 25-6 set win. After an early 7-1 run, DBU rattled off a 17-1 run, evening the match at one.

The third set required a DBU comeback, as the Aggies jumped in front with an early 6-1 run. The Lady Patriots climbed back slowly, tying the match at 13. With the score tied at 16, DBU went on a 4-0 run, pulling away for a 25-19 win, and a 2-1 match advantage.
The Lady Patriots controlled the majority of the fourth set, leading by as many as nine, on their way to a 25-17 win, and a 3-1 overall victory.

It was a balanced attack for the Lady Patriots, who had three players with double-figure kills, led by a match-high 11 from
Tiara Iwegbu.
Erika Papadeas and
Carly Hess each added 10.
The setters also showed their depth as three turned in substantial assists.
Tyler Bradsher led the way with 15, also tops in the match, followed by 13 from
Kaycie Bird and 10 by
Austin Roberts.
"I'm really glad we were able to get everyone in the match today," said Head Coach
Cathy Kokel. "Everyone continues to do their job when they're on the court."
On the defensive end,
Cameron Hartson earned a match-high 30 digs.
Krystal Wunderlich and
Tadam Mergener also helped hold the back line, adding 16 and 11 digs, respectively.
"I can't say enough about Cameron (Hartson)," added Kokel. "Her defense and leadership has been the key to our success. I also want to point out
Carly Hess, as a freshman she is leading the team in several hitting stats, she has been great."
Three OPSU players tied for the team lead in kills, with Sarah Koster, Makayla Barrett, and Shaina Eddings all turning in seven. Skylar Mayeux and Terra Madden split setting time, each registering 12 assists. Mayeux was joined by Nicole Fournier with 10 digs.

DBU takes to the road for the remainder of September, beginning with the Mary-Beth Sudduth Invitational, next weekend at Arkansas-Fort Smith. The Lady Patriots will play three non-conference contests, also taking on UAFS in a Heartland contest.
