OPENING TIP – The Dallas Baptist Men's Basketball Team continues its four-game road swing on Saturday versus McMurry University for a 2 PM tip-off. The Patriots improved to 7-10 overall and 4-6 in the Heartland Conference following a 76-68 victory the other night topping St. Edward's.

DBU clinched its first road win on the campaign and moves to within two games of St. Mary's and Texas-Permian Basin for fourth place in the Heartland Conference.

LAST TIME ON THE HARDWOOD – Senior, Remy Ndiaye, lead the Men's Basketball Team with 18 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double on the season. It was the Dakar, Senegal, native's first contest to post double-digits away from the Burg Center, and was the 10th on the year to place him tied for second on the squad.

Five Patriot players boasted double figure scoring nights for the second time this year. Behind Ndiaye was sophomore, Jason Gentry, claiming 14 points; his third game in the past four to break the double figure mark.

A trio came off the DBU bench and contributed big nights led by junior, Wesley Gipson, with 13. Sophomore, Charles Allen, delivered a strong performance with 12 points, while redshirt sophomore, Jonathan Perry, chipped in 11. The bench for Dallas Baptist outscored SEU 36-13.

The Patriots shot their highest percentage from the floor on the road compiling a 54-percent clip compared to St. Edward's 48-percent. DBU also collected a season-high 76 points away from the home confines in Dallas, Texas.

Up by two at halftime, DBU opened up a six point edge in the first stages of the second stanza, but the Hilltoppers came back to grab a 60-59 advantage just passed the midway point of the half.

It was the last lead of the night for SEU, as the visiting squad held their opponent to eight points the remainder of the conference affair. A pair of three-pointers by Allen and Gipson to go along with an emphatic dunk by Ndiaye opened a seven point lead to cap the momentum for DBU at the 2:52 mark in regulation.

KEY PLAYERS – Perry continues to be the leading scorer on the squad with 305 points and sat fourth in the Heartland Conference for total points. The Kerrville, Texas, native entered his consecutive week first in the league with 18.4 points averaged per game (ppg).

The forward has claimed 15 double-digit scoring performances in 17 games on the campaign, while extending a season-long seven games in a row to complete the feat. In his second season, Perry continues to impress as he has boasted 20 or more points in five contests, including his record-breaking 47 points versus Southeastern Oklahoma State.

Ndiaye continues to be a presence inside the post for the Patriots. He has eclipsed double-digits in the scoring column the past five games, marking a season-long, including his highest finish coming at 18 points the last time on the court.

The senior is averaging 12 ppg and leads the team with 119 rebounds. He boasts a team team-best four double-doubles and has notched one in back-to-back contests.

SCOUTING THE WARHAWKS – McMurry moved to 9-10 on the season and 4-6 in Heartland action following a 67-64 win over Oklahoma Christian Thursday night. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak for the Warhawks and moved the team to 7-4 at home.

McMurry led 61-52 with 3:06 remaining in the game, but OCU responded with a 12-6 run to close out the thrilling affair. The Warhawks watched their advantage shrink to three points and under 10 seconds left, but an erratic trifecta attempt helped the home squad hold on.

As a team, McMurry has allowed 74.3 ppg while averaging 72.9 points a contest themselves. The group is shooting 26-percent from the field and 31-percent from three-point land. The Warhawks are outrebounding opponents 36.8 to 35.9 a contest, and also winning the turnover battle committing 13.1 compared to forcing 14.6.

A quartet of players pace the McMurry offense led by Kourtney Goff with 12.9 ppg and closely followed by Alfred Perez with 12.6. Also tossing in solid numbers are Brandon Golden and Conner Robinson with 11.9 and 10.1 ppg, respectively.

This will be another test for the Patriots as both programs sit 4-6 in the Heartland Conference going into the weekend tip-off. While the Warhawks are ineligible in their inaugural season for tournament competition, a victory for DBU moves them closer to .500 and one of the final seeds to qualify for the league tournament.

SERIES HISTORY – DBU split both contests last season against McMurry, with the home team claiming victories in its own venue. The Patriots pulled out an overtime 85-83 nail-biter in the later part of the 2012-13 campaign. Earlier in the season, DBU was defeated by a wide margin in Abilene, Texas.

Ndiaye and Allen each poured in double-digits with 14 and 11 points, respectively. In the overtime affair, five players reached double figures with four individuals returning on the current roster. Perry and Ndiaye led the bunch with 13, while senior, Cory Carden, chipped in 11. Gipson rounded out the quartet with 10 off the bench.

The all-time series is even at 1-1 since last year was the first time in history the foes met on the hardwood.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE – Dallas Baptist continues its road slate and will tip-off at Lubbock Christian on Feb. 6 for a 7 PM rematch. DBU triumphed in the Heartland Conference opener 61-59 in the Burg Center earlier this season.

The Patriots end the trip by facing another familiar opponent Feb. 8 at 2 PM with Texas-Permian Basin. DBU fell at home 80-66 in that contest but could even the series in a potential playoff implication match-up.
