OPENING TIP – The Dallas Baptist Men's Basketball Team concludes its home schedule on Monday night versus non-conference foe, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, at 7 PM. This ends a 13-game stretch of Heartland Conference affairs that has the Patriots (10-12) playing some of its best ball of late.

DBU matched a season-long three-game winning streak after its impressive 92-73 victory on Saturday over Rogers State. The scoring total was a point shy of a season-best clinched the second contest of the campaign over Dallas Christian College. The Patriots have gone 4-2 in their past six contests.Â

The Patriots remain a game out of the final Heartland Conference Tournament seed behind Texas-Permian Basin who defeated the top league team, Texas A&M International, 79-74. DBU did improve in the standings, moving a half-game ahead of St. Edward's who fell 68-65 to McMurry on Saturday. The Hilltoppers are now a game and a half out from UTPB for the fourth tournament spot.
LAST TIME ON THE HARDWOOD – DBU guaranteed a winning record at the Burg Center on Saturday to move to 8-6 on the campaign, and are 2-0 on the home stand.  The Patriots were effective shooting in the early going, and built a 10-point lead, 36-26, heading into intermission. The home squad shot 58-percent from the field in the first half, and would hit 54-percent in the offensive affair.

Redshirt sophomore,
Jonathan Perry, only recorded two points in the opening frame, but would get hot midway through the second half, pouring in 20 en route to a team-high 22 points. The team's leading scorer would be shy of a double-double, matching a team-best nine rebounds.

DBU won the rebounding battle outdoing the Hillcats 39-24 on the glass. The Patriots also took advantage from the free throw line, going 25-for-34 compared to a 27-for-40 day for RSU.

For the third time this year, five players boasted double figure performances for DBU. Behind Perry was sophomore,
Jason Gentry, with 17. Redshirt freshman,
Myles Johnson, and senior,
Remy Ndiaye, each tossed in 13, while sophomore,
Wesley Gipson, added 11.

PLAYERS TO WATCH – Perry continues to be the leading scorer on the squad with 401 points and ranks second in the Heartland Conference for total points. The Kerrville, Texas, native entered his fourth consecutive week tops in the league with 17.9 points averaged per game (ppg). He also is shooting well from the charity stripe, boasting the second highest percentage in the conference with an 84.9 clip.

The forward has claimed 20 double-digit scoring performances in 22 games on the campaign, while extending a season-long 12 games in a row to notch the feat. In his second season, Perry continues to impress as he has boasted 20 or more points in his last three games and nine contests total. This includes his record-breaking 47 points versus Southeastern Oklahoma State in December. He has been the team-leading scorer in six of the last seven affairs.

Ndiaye continues to be a force inside the post for the Patriots. The native of Dakar, Senegal has poured in 250 points to claim second on the squad behind Perry. The forward has been particularly solid at home, notching 10 of his 12 double-digit scoring performances on the season.

Gentry boasted 17 points in back-to-back contest, each tying a second season-highest in the scoring column. A native of Hondo, Texas, the second-year starter has boasted seven double figure contests, with five occurring in the past eight games. His total the other night is five-points short of his season-high, 22 points against Texas A&M Commerce at the Burg Center.
SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA SCHOOL OF MINES & TECHNOLOGY – The Hardrockers (6-17) enter Monday's affair on a five-game losing streak. Their most recent setback occurred at Eastern New Mexico by a final of 86-72. The 'Rockers are in the midst of a season-ending, five-game road trip, with DBU the second stop on the swing.

Michael Dietz leads the way for the Hardrocker's offense averaging a team-high 14.5 ppg. Lance Kilburn is another force to watch totaling 9.7 a game. SDSMT is averaging 71 points a game, while surrendering 75.9 on average per contest. The Hardrockers are averaging 12.8 assists per game, sharing the ball 294 times compared to 274 by opponents.

SENIOR NIGHT – Prior to Monday evening's tip, the Patriots will be honoring a pair of seniors on the roster,
Cory Carden and Ndiaye.
Ndiaye has been a force in the post both seasons for DBU since transferring after his sophomore season. The forward has combined to tally 368 points through 48 career games at Dallas Baptist. His career-high came earlier this year at the Burg Center, when he scored 27 points in the Texas-Permian Basin contest.
Carden has totaled 48 games in a DBU jersey, including 33 starts at guard. In his career, the Clearwater, Florida, native has combined for 243 points, 79 assists, and shot a league best in 2012-13 campaign .571 behind the three-point arc. His career-high came that same year with 18 at Abilene Christian.Â

UPCOMING SCHEDULE – Dallas Baptist begins its final road swing of the regular season with three Heartland Conference contests. The trip kicks off on Feb. 20 at Oklahoma Christian for a 7 PM tip. On Feb. 22, the Patriots will start at 11:10 AM for a special match-up versus Newman. The affair is being televised by CBS that day. Finally, the regular season concludes on Feb. 27 at Oklahoma Panhandle.
