BACK ON THE PITCHThe Dallas Baptist Men's Soccer Team begins its first road trip of the campaign with five in a row away from Patriot Soccer Field. DBU (1-1) split a pair of matches at home, claiming the season opener over Harding University last week.

On Thursday at 7 PM, the Patriots prepare to battle Southern Nazarene University in non-conference action at Bethany, Oklahoma. Despite a 2-6-1 road record in 2013, DBU dropped four of those contests by a goal or less. Two were also decided in overtime.

RECENT ACTIONÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â The Patriots garnered 22 shots in Saturday's 2-1 defeat on Saturday against Colorado Christian University. Most of the damage for the home squad happened in the second half, with 17 shots being taken.

Nathan McBride took advantage of a deflected save that came off redshirt sophomore
Landon Lacy's shot, to put DBU on the board. Though it was a little too late to remove the deficit, it was McBride's first collegiate goal.

Two goalkeepers saw 45 minutes apiece for the visiting Cougars. Zach Ashland collected six saves in the second half, while starter, Brandon Eide, got one. Â Â

Mason Stringer faced 10 shots and nabbed two saves while allowing a pair of goals.

PLAYERS TO WATCHJuniorÂ
Brian Robertson hopes to build on a career campaign from 2013. The Midlothian, Texas, native boasted personal and team-highs with 24 points, seven goals, and 10 assists. His success garnered the midfielder NCCAA First Team All-Region and Second Team All-Heartland Conference honors.

Lacy is another player to keep an eye on. The season-opener's hero entered the year tied for third on career goals with four from this season's current roster. The midfielder has three shots and four shots on goal.

Sophomore
Riley Alvey leads the team with six shots and has placed a team-best, four on target. Junior
Leevi Schwartz has posted two assists, which is the most on the squad. Each were part of the two goals in the win last week. Â

Stringer has received both starts for DBU early in the year. The Burleson, Texas, native has allowed three goals, totaled 6 saves on 22 shots faced, and boasts a career record of 4-3 with one shutout coming in his collegiate debut versus McMurry University.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY The Crimson Storm (1-2) played three games in six days, and have already become familiar with Heartland Conference opponents. SNU opened the campaign at home versus Rogers State and was shutout 2-0. A road trip to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma that weekend is where the Crimson Storm snuck past another Heartland team, Oklahoma Christian, 3-2 in overtime.

Most recently, Southern Nazarene was defeated 4-3 by Oklahoma City. Thursday's match-up against Dallas Baptist begins a five-game, home slate for the Storm.

Leading the squad with seven points and three of the six overall goals is Edgar Pineda. Two of them occurred in the team's lone victory thus far. While neither came in the extra time, he did pass for the assist on the game-winner to Blake Rodgers.

Both are tops on the team with 12 and five shots, respectively. Gustavo Mendoza and Ismael Fernandez are tied behind them adding four attempts.

Jeff Ray has started all three games as goalkeeper, accumulating 274:11 minutes with 20 saves on 61 shots faced.

SERIES HISTORY: Thursday marks the first meeting since DBU moved to Division II that the programs meet on the pitch.

UP NEXT:Dallas Baptist continues its road stretch with a trip to Oklahoma Baptist University on Saturday at 7 PM. The Patriots will then face No. 15 Metro State on Monday, September 15 at 12 PM. Â
