Lady Patriots Roll in Sweep of Midwestern State

THE RUNDOWN
DBU (18-3, 9-1) rolled past Midwestern State (4-17, 2-7) in straight sets at The Burg on Friday night. The sweep is the Lady Patriots' fourth in their last five matches.

Set one was possibly the closest set in which DBU has competed all year. Both teams failed to take full control in a frame with 15 ties and 8 lead changes. Neither squad led by more than two points, but three Lady Patriot blocks proved to be the difference maker.

DBU took the steering wheel in the second. After a 4-4 tie, the Lady Patriots' offense took off. A 6-1 run forced a Mustangs timeout, but the stoppage in play proved to be futile. DBU hit .500 in the set while 7 of its players slammed at least one kill as part a dominant frame by the Lady Patriots.

Midwestern State had no answer for the DBU offense. The Lady Patriots had a .474 hitting percentage in the final set, and Aryn Walton and Kenzie McNeill contributed 2 aces each en route to the DBU win.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- With their 9th consecutive win, the Lady Patriots have not lost since September 16 against West Texas A&M, who was ranked No. 17 in the country at the time.
- After the 4-4 tie in the second set, DBU did not trail in the match.
- With four aces on Friday, sophomore defensive specialist Kenzie McNeill moves into second place for the program's service aces single-season record. She is 1 away from tying Amanda Emert's 39 from 2008.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
.200 - Midwestern State was held to sub-.200 hitting in each set.
10 - The Lady Patriots blocked a total of 10 attacks on Friday night, tying their 2nd highest mark this season.
11 - DBU executed 11 service aces. It was the 7th time this year that the Lady Patriots recorded at least 10 aces in a match.
